Breed Seminars

Breed Seminars

Breed  Seminars, the English Setter Joint Judges Committee (JJC) has been running regular breed specific seminars in accordance with the Kennel Club best practice guidelines since 2001.

These include;

Module 1 for judges aspiring to go onto the C List

Module 2 for judges aspiring to go onto the B List (also includes MCE)

Module 3 / A3 Assessment for judges aspiring to go onto the A3 List

Breed Appreciation Day (BAD) with Multiple Choice Exam (MCE) for judges aspiring to go onto the B List or Level 2

Note: In addition to the ‘breed specific’ seminars shown above, judges also need to attend the following KC judging seminars to qualify for the various judging lists;

  • Requirements of a Dog Show Judge (RDSJ)
  • Conformation and Movement
  • Points of the Dog “hands-on assessment”

Since 2001 some 473 people have attended 40 modules / seminars organised by the English Setter breed clubs.

Given the falling entries at shows and reducing hands-on criteria it is important that judges are assessed to ensure they fully understand the breed characteristics before awarding CC’s in the breed. Therefore the JJC places significant emphasis on judges needing to attend and pass breed specific seminars, especially Module 3 / A3 Assessment which is designed to assess potential judges before moving onto the A3 List and awarding CC’s.

Details of future breed specific seminars / assessments will appear on the breed club web site / Facebook page once plans are confirmed.
